Opposite the kitchen, you’ll find a comfy sectional that’s the perfect place to relax after an invigorating hike or a hearty meal at The Copper Room. Put your feet up and flip on the 65-inch smart TV - or just revel in the sounds of silence. Throughout the living space, you’ll find rustic plywood walls and dark hues inspired by an early desert morning.

OUTDOOR SPACE
The outdoor space had been arranged to optimize outdoor enjoyment and relaxation, and to capture as much of the high desert’s beauty and sun as possible! The kitchen and living area open to a spacious patio through a sliding door. On the patio, you’ll find a gas barbecue grill and a dining table, and a few steps further is a propane fire feature.

Pause House: PM also includes a cozy hot tub (perfect for warming up on cool evenings) and a refreshing cowboy tub. Nothing feels better than a cool dip after a long hike! Ancient Joshua Trees and mature cacti surround Pause House and lounge seating is provided to relax and enjoy the beauty and panoramic views.

ESSENTIALS
The property includes parking for a couple of cars and a charger for electric vehicles (level 2).

Visitors come to the High Desert for its unique landscape, culture, and recreational opportunities, as well as for the weather - hot and dry summers and mild winters at our high altitude. Joshua Tree and the communities surrounding the Joshua Tree National Park include Flamingo Heights, Pioneertown, Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, and Landers. You’ll be close to all the action at Pause House. Some of our favorite options available to you:

–Joshua Tree National Park: 800,000 acres of mystical beauty - Joshua Tree National Park is one of the world’s most incredible natural desert treasures. Sweeping, grand in scale and populated by granite monoliths and voluptuous rock and boulder formations. This quiet land, conducive to meditation and roaming, was carved by extremes in climate - wind, rain and an ever-present, relentless sun. Diverse forms of plant life are found everywhere, but none as unique or prevalent as the park’s namesake: the Joshua tree, standing majestically across the vast topography.

–Pioneertown: Step back in time to thus rustic Old West-style village. Wander through the historic buildings, visit unique shops, catch a live music performance at Pappy & Harriets, and experience the Wild West charm.

** Cleaning Protocols ***
As the only professional management company in the area, we have always maintained exceptional cleaning standards. We pay above the living wage standards; 100% of your cleaning fee is paid to the cleaners (i.e. no profit to us) and we insist on a professional level of cleaning between guests. We love the High Desert for a lot of reasons - including the open spaces, lack of crowds, and dry weather that we believe make it a safe place to visit.

► GENERAL: As guests, you can enjoy full access to the entire home. Only registered guests are allowed unless specifically agreed upon during the booking process.

► PARKING: Free parking is available for 2 vehicles in the large driveway.

► WORK FROM HOME: There is free, high-speed WiFi available throughout the home for any remote workers in your group.

► FAMILY: Traveling with little ones? We’ve got you covered with a few supplies including a Pack ’n play/travel crib, children's books, toys and dinnerware, and even babysitter recommendations! / Please request in advance

Yucca Mesa is situated within a short drive from the most popular attractions in the High Desert, offering an incredible combination of convenience and tranquility. During the day, you can explore nature in your own backyard, and at night, the stargazing can’t be beat.

This area is located just minutes from shopping and dining in Joshua Tree Village and Yucca Valley, and the drive to the West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park takes about 18 minutes.

Transit

While we are off a paved road, many roads in the high desert are dirt, so please take it slow. While a car is required to get around, a four wheel drive car is not, but note that roads will often have ruts, particularly after a rain.

• EVENTS & COMMERCIAL PHOTOSHOOTS: Are not permitted without prior approval, applicable permit and additional fees.

• DOGS: Your dog is welcome and there is a one time fee of $100. Please alert us in advance. Max of 2 dogs. No other types of animals are authorized.

HouseRules

VACATION RENTAL AGREEMENT
THIS AGREEMENT IS NOT A LEASE AND CONVEYS NO RIGHTS IN REAL PROPERTY AT ANY TIME. YOUR USE IS LIMITED TO THAT DEFINED HEREIN.

• The number of people on the property may not exceed the number of guests in your reservation confirmation plus two (regardless of whether they are staying the night or just visiting). Additional guest fees starting at $65 per person per night will apply for any unauthorized persons.

• Your sole right to access the property begins with the 4PM check-in and ends at the 11AM check-out, unless other times are approved in writing in advance. Check-in is not allowed after 9PM unless approved in advance. We will charge 50% of the daily rate for an unauthorized early arrival or late check-out.

• Dogs are allowed with prior written permission, with the payment of an additional cleaning fee, and only at certain properties. No other pets or animals are allowed. Dog owners agree to the following additional rules: use protective sheets that we will leave out for you to cover any place where your dog may lie (we are not equipped to shampoo furniture or rugs or dry clean bedding after your departure); dogs must be leashed at all times when outside (there are coyotes in the High Desert, which present danger to unleashed dogs) and owners must immediately pick up after their dogs and deposit waste in a plastic bag and place it in the garbage bin; dogs are not to be left unattended in the property at any time. In addition to our additional dog cleaning fee, we will deduct the costs of extra cleaning (including at least $50 for pet fur left on furniture due to lack of use of the provided protective sheets) or repairs necessitated by the presence of your dog.

• Recreational vehicles, motorcycles and camping or other overnight accommodations outside the property are not allowed. Violations of this policy will result in termination of the reservation with no refund.

• We do not guarantee the speed or availability of internet service. Internet service may be provided by a satellite and/or wireless provider and may be subject to more fluctuations and outages than you may be used to and we do not provide refunds or discounts due to internet problems. No illegal or abusive use of the internet access is allowed. Guests may log in to their personal accounts on any devices at the property (e.g. smart TVs), but guests are responsible for logging out of all personal accounts prior to leaving the property and we are not responsible for any use or purchase made on guest accounts.

• Cell service may not be available at the property due to the rural nature and geography of the area.

• The High Desert occasionally has power outages due to its rural nature. We are not responsible for any outages of Southern California Edison or any inconvenience such outage may cause. We will notify you of any planned outages and if requested will attempt to accommodate you elsewhere in the event of a planned outage lasting more than 4 hours. But we do not provide refunds or discounts for power outages that are unplanned.

• No photoshoots are allowed on the property without prior written approval and the payment of additional fees. Unauthorized use of the rental property’s name, address, or images, including its interior, exterior, and / or private property surroundings, for any commercial use including but not limited to selling, advertising, TV, film production, electronic, or other media, is not permitted and we will seek to have any use removed.

• Special events such as weddings and parties are not permitted without written approval and the payment of additional fees.

• Guests who utilize a property’s hot tub, pools and/or plunge pool do so at their own risk and we are not liable for any personal injury or other damages associated with such use. Guests may not use glass or pottery glassware, plates, etc. in or anywhere near any such water amenity. If any glass or pottery ware is broken in or near a water amenity, you will be charged the full amount to drain and refill the amenity and for any lost revenue during such service. Guests may not leave minors unattended at any hot tub, pool or plunge pool. If a water amenity is left uncovered, you will be charged a minimum of $100 for additional cleaning/filling/heating.
No lifeguard is on duty; the primary guest on the reservation is responsible for the safe operation of the pool and for the safety of any persons using the pool; by utilizing any pool or spa all guests acknowledge and accept the risk of injury resulting from use of the pool, malfunction of pool equipment, tripping or falling around the pool/spa and any other injuries that may occur and waive all claims against the homeowner or its representatives including Homestead Modern LLC.

• Guests shall allow the property owner or any designated workers access to the property for landscaping and routine maintenance, cleaning, repairs and building inspections, and pool and hot tub repairs and service.

• If for any reason beyond the control of the owner, the property is unavailable, we may cancel your reservation with only a refund to the actual fees and / or deposits you have paid.

• Smoking is not allowed inside the property or within 15 feet of any exterior door. Please dispose of your extinguished cigarette waste into a plastic bag and then into the outdoor

garbage can. Do not leave cigarette waste on the grounds. If these rules are violated, we will charge a minimum of $250.

• Propane firepits or fireplaces may not be used for burning wood or any other materials (it is illegal pursuant to a county ordinance and may damage the fixture). If any combustible materials are burned in them, we will charge a minimum of $500 cleaning fee.

• By making your reservation, you confirm that you will comply with (and your stay is allowed by) any applicable health or safety orders from the State of California.

• Firearms are not allowed on the property.

• Local ordinances prohibit any loud, excessive, or intrusive noise that disturbs the peace or that causes discomfort or annoyance to any reasonable person at any time as well as strict quiet hours between 10PM and 7AM. You must adhere to these rules.

• Please pay attention to all relevant short-term rental ordinances and other regulations (such as the noise ordinance above) in accordance with county or town guidelines. If you violate any ordinance and as a result the property is fined, you will be responsible for payment of the fine plus a $500 administrative fee.

• Payments are due 50% at 60 days before check-in and 50% at 30 days before check-in (or at the time of reservation if less than the days for either payment).

• A deposit is required at the time of booking and any unused portion will be returned 7 days after checkout. Bookings may include an accidental damage protection fee – with payment of this non-refundable fee, you will not be held responsible to pay for accidental damage or loss to the rental property resulting from you or others in your party up to $1000 and that you report to us during your stay. This plan does not cover intentional acts of a guest, gross negligence, or willful and wanton conduct, and/or damages caused by pets.

• We may withhold all or part of your deposit if you fail to follow the rules in this agreement, the property listing or the property house manual. If the cost of the damages, losses, or missing items exceed the amount of the deposit, we will bill your credit card for the difference and / or pursue legal action. Cause(s) for withholding deposit funds include, but are not limited to: damage to premises or contents, missing or broken items, lost keys, required excessive cleaning, not complying fully with the departure checklist, smoke odors or damage, mailing charges for items left behind, unauthorized persons visiting or staying on the property, the presence of a dog without authorization, noise complaints after 10PM, including fines, trespassing on neighboring properties, violation of any county or town rules and unauthorized late check-out.

• We are not responsible for any personal injury or personal property loss or damage that you or your guests may incur while at the property, you assume all risks associated with your visit and will hold the property owner and manager harmless from any injuries, loss or damage.

The space was lovely and exactly what I needed. Everything was extremely clean. Not much privacy from the road but the beautiful desert lets you forget that quick. Had a quick issue with a broken shower head. Messaged and they immediately sent maintenance over and he replaced it right away and even bought me a case of beer for the trouble. Completely unnecessary but greatly appreciated.

The house is absolutely beautiful and the views are so stunning - you can see a couple houses around but it really feels very private. It's the perfect place to unwind for a few days. The hot tub and outdoor shower are amazing, like everyone says, and the whole experience felt closer to staying in a hotel for how clean and well-managed it was. We brought our own supplies for our dog, but management provided extras as well which was very kind. A note for dog people traveling around here for the first time - many of the restaurants in the area have dog-friendly patios, but almost NO restaurants offer take out or delivery. Our dog isn't great with other pets so we ended up just cooking during our stay which was very easy - the kitchen is well-equipped and there are multiple grocery stores within a 20 minute drive.

When I was browsing places to stay, my mind kept coming back to this place so I decided to go with my intuition and I'm so glad I did! Pause house PM was a beautiful stay. Serene, private, and a great way to reset after a stressful few months of work in the LA bustle. We enjoyed Joshua Tree overall but our favorite part of our stay was our time at the house itself, just relaxing and spending time as a couple with our two dogs. I recommend making great use of the grill and just eating outside as much as possible. It is so quiet and a great feeling to sit out there for hours at a time. Hot tub was awesome too!!! Loved how beautiful this home is, it truly looks like it belongs in a magazine. Stargazing in the jacuzzi was AMAZING, and definitely one of the highlights of our trip across country from DC. Our only complaint are the dog fur all over the sofa, many of the cups already had stains, and the smell from the septic tank (you could really smell the poo when the wind blew…). Other than that, the host was very responsive and provided an app which was very useful. Stargazing was amazing, the outdoor shower was breathtaking, and seeing wild animals like coyotes was really cool. Would definitely stay again.

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary at Pause House -PM. It was a perfect weekend getaway. We loved Pause House. It looked just like the photos and exceeded all of our expectations. It was so cute and peaceful in the home. We cooked on the grill and watched the sunset. The cowboy pool was easy to clean and use. The guest book was also very sweet to read. It’s perfect for a couple of friends or a romantic couple to get away.

Came to get a private weekend away and was not disappointed. The home is stunning and comfortable. The kitchen is filled with tools for a weekend of fun and yummy home cooking. The outdoor shower was beautiful and the host was always responsive within 20 mins if I had questions, even at night. I had an incredible, relaxing and peaceful time and highly recommended this place to many!!

Pause house PM was a beautiful stay. Serene, private, and a great way to reset after a stressful few months of work in the LA bustle. We enjoyed Joshua Tree overall but our favorite part of our stay was our time at the house itself, just relaxing and spending time as a couple with our two dogs. I recommend making great use of the grill and just eating outside as much as possible. It is so quiet and a great feeling to sit out there for hours at a time. Hot tub was awesome too!!! Would love to come back some time.

Loved how beautiful this home is, it truly looks like it belongs in a magazine. Stargazing in the jacuzzi was AMAZING, and definitely one of the highlights of our trip across country from DC. Our only complaint are the dog fur all over the sofa, many of the cups already had stains, and the smell from the septic tank (you could really smell the poo when the wind blew…). Other than that, the host was very responsive and provided an app which was very useful. Stargazing was amazing, the outdoor shower was breathtaking, and seeing wild animals like coyotes was really cool. Would definitely stay again.

This is your total getaway and retreat! We spent a few days and had such a wonderful and relaxing time. The hot tub was great and being able to sit by the fire in the evenings was wonderful. For a couple getaway and retreat, this is definitely recommended!

This was such an absolutely fantastic getaway! The property is gorgeous, the pool is divine set in the mountains. Pure sunlight throughout the day with beautiful designer linens and black out curtains for privacy. The pool and jacuzzi were bliss. If I could give it 10 stars I would! The team is excellent and went above and beyond to accommodate me and my family & I couldn’t have been more pleased. This is a must stay!!

The Pause House PM is a beautifully designed and thoughtfully crafted getaway with plenty of privacy yet still easy access to conveniences. We loved sitting in the hot tub watching the sunset over the desert. 🏜️ The place was very clean and well cared for, and everything was communicated clearly and proactively. Definitely recommend!

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary at Pause House -PM. It was a perfect weekend getaway. We loved Pause House. It looked just like the photos and exceeded all of our expectations. Even though there were other houses off in the distance, it felt very secluded and private. We loved sitting out by the fire pit and we loved looking at the full moon and stars in the hot tub. It was a very cozy space and we loved the design. It’s a great romantic spot for couples. Perfect to disconnect from the world and connect with each other. I would highly recommend and would love to stay there again.

My husband and I booked the Pause House PM for a 2 night getaway, a break between the holidays. It was a perfect place to disconnect from the busyness of the world and reconnect as a couple. The house was modern but cozy and had everything we needed for our short stay. There were board games available, which were an added perk, and the jacuzzi was a great amenity to have in the desert during the winter!

This beautiful home had everything I could ask for and exceed my expectations. Here's what I loved - Cozy - Level 2 EV charger! - Outdoor shower was exceptional - Hot tub - They are truly pet-friendly (vs pet tolerable). - Very comfortable bed with Parachute bedding - Place is furnished with high quality furniture and kitchenware. Suffice to say that this will be my place to stay when I am back in Joshua Tree.

Excellent tiny home for a private escape from the rest of the world. Really enjoyed making use of the outdoor amenities including the cowboy tub, hot tub, and firepit. Just a few miles down the road from the West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park so it's a good basecamp for hiking and climbing but I also enjoyed just hanging out and enjoying the home.

Probably the best stay I’ve had so far. first of all, the view and surroundings are so peaceful. Perfect place to take a break, or better yet, a pause. Comfortable interior and they had everything to really enjoy the space. My partner and I loved the fire pit and it became our PM routine to make s’mores under the star lit sky. I can’t wait to return ❤️

Loved it here despite the hurricane coming in on our weekend visit we had booked through their very convenient and practical app a spa treatment in the house that was absolutely amazing and so relaxing they provided accommodation for the storm and we were able to have a safe and peaceful trip

Modern, Cozy, Relaxing, Extremely Clean, and a perfect home away from home. I enjoyed everything during the stay. Would say that it is one of my best AirBnb experience yet when it comes to a getaway. The place is very modern, well designed and maintained. Even the outdoor tubs were very well maintained. The host is extremely responsive and friendly despite not meeting. It definitely felt like a home away from home as it is well equipped with all necessities. The view is gorgeous. We were supposed to tour Joshua Tree park but ended up spending all three days in the Airbnb itself. Definitely a lovely stay here.
