This home houses multiple museum worthy pieces of Mexican artwork by the famous Carlomango Pedro Martínez, Oñate & various others. Oil paintings, hand painted ceramic pottery, large vases, intricate wood carved furniture, black clay hanging pots (also known as Barra Negro) can also be found around the home. You will be transported to the festivities of Día de los Muertos w/ the specially carved out wooden skeleton seat at the dining table, which seats 6 and hand painted ceramic dishes & cups, all brought on a truck by the owner of the home from villages across Mexico. Although you may be tempted to take your meal outside to the patio’s dining table, which also seats at least 6 and has some of the most epic views of boulders in the desert community.

Diverse forms of plant life are found everywhere, but none as unique or prevalent as the park’s namesake: the Joshua tree, standing majestically across the vast topography.

Access

You will have the entire house and property to yourself. The backyard is free for you to explore but please make sure you don’t hike into neighboring properties. The property has fences in place along with trespassing signs to help guide you.

Neighborhood

The 320-acre private community of Rock Reach is technically in the Town of Yucca Valley, but it feels like the middle of Joshua Tree National Park – without the crowds. Most of the landscape is an untouched wonderland of weathered boulders, pinon pines, desert oak and juniper trees.

Rock Reach provides the perfect blend of pristine desert and easy access to amenities in town. The West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park is a 20-minute drive away, and the shops, restaurants, and things to do in Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree Village. A few of favorite spots in Joshua Tree Village include Space Cowboy Books, the World Famous Crochet Museum, and the Joshua Tree Saloon.

In addition to shopping and dining, you won’t want to miss these nearby highlights:
• Pioneertown (15-minute drive) - Put on your ten-gallon hat and stroll down Mane Street of this Wild West-inspired town, also known for Pappy & Harriet’s, a notable restaurant and venue.
• Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum (20-minute drive) - As far from a stuffy gallery as you can imagine, this outdoor sculpture garden contains a unique collection of folk-art.
• The Integratron (20-minute drive) - New age-y healing destination with a sound bath, originally designed by ufologist George Van Tassel with the goal of reversing the aging process.
• Palm Springs (40-minute drive) - Artsy town known for vintage shopping, art galleries, and the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.
• Mt. San Jacinto State Park (90-minute drive) - Expansive, hilly landscape with foot and horseback trails surrounding 10,834-foot Mount San Jacinto.

Transit

Many roads in the high desert are dirt, so please take it slow. While a car is required to get around, a four wheel drive car is not, but note that roads will often have ruts, particularly after a rain.

GPS is accurate, however please follow our directions as some of the other approaches take you down fairly rough roads.

• EVENTS & COMMERCIAL PHOTOSHOOTS: Are not permitted without prior approval, applicable permit and additional fees.

• CELL SERVICE: Cell phone service availability and quality in the high desert varies by service provider. This is particularly true in the more remote areas of Joshua Tree, Pipes Canyon, and Pioneertown. Please be prepared by enabling wifi calling or downloading a VOIP program.

HouseRules

VACATION RENTAL AGREEMENT
THIS AGREEMENT IS NOT A LEASE AND CONVEYS NO RIGHTS IN REAL PROPERTY AT ANY TIME. YOUR USE IS LIMITED TO THAT DEFINED HEREIN.

• The number of people on the property may not exceed the number of guests in your reservation confirmation plus two (regardless of whether they are staying the night or just visiting). Additional guest fees starting at $65 per person per night will apply for any unauthorized persons.

• Your sole right to access the property begins with the 4PM check-in and ends at the 11AM check-out, unless other times are approved in writing in advance. Check-in is not allowed after 9PM unless approved in advance. We will charge 50% of the daily rate for an unauthorized early arrival or late check-out.

• Dogs are allowed with prior written permission, with the payment of an additional cleaning fee, and only at certain properties. No other pets or animals are allowed. Dog owners agree to the following additional rules: use protective sheets that we will leave out for you to cover any place where your dog may lie (we are not equipped to shampoo furniture or rugs or dry clean bedding after your departure); dogs must be leashed at all times when outside (there are coyotes in the High Desert, which present danger to unleashed dogs) and owners must immediately pick up after their dogs and deposit waste in a plastic bag and place it in the garbage bin; dogs are not to be left unattended in the property at any time. In addition to our additional dog cleaning fee, we will deduct the costs of extra cleaning (including at least $50 for pet fur left on furniture due to lack of use of the provided protective sheets) or repairs necessitated by the presence of your dog.

• Recreational vehicles, motorcycles and camping or other overnight accommodations outside the property are not allowed. Violations of this policy will result in termination of the reservation with no refund.

• We do not guarantee the speed or availability of internet service. Internet service may be provided by a satellite and/or wireless provider and may be subject to more fluctuations and outages than you may be used to and we do not provide refunds or discounts due to internet problems. No illegal or abusive use of the internet access is allowed. Guests may log in to their personal accounts on any devices at the property (e.g. smart TVs), but guests are responsible for logging out of all personal accounts prior to leaving the property and we are not responsible for any use or purchase made on guest accounts.

• Cell service may not be available at the property due to the rural nature and geography of the area.

• The High Desert occasionally has power outages due to its rural nature. We are not responsible for any outages of Southern California Edison or any inconvenience such outage may cause. We will notify you of any planned outages and if requested will attempt to accommodate you elsewhere in the event of a planned outage lasting more than 4 hours. But we do not provide refunds or discounts for power outages that are unplanned.

• No photoshoots are allowed on the property without prior written approval and the payment of additional fees. Unauthorized use of the rental property’s name, address, or images, including its interior, exterior, and / or private property surroundings, for any commercial use including but not limited to selling, advertising, TV, film production, electronic, or other media, is not permitted and we will seek to have any use removed.

• Special events such as weddings and parties are not permitted without written approval and the payment of additional fees.

• Guests who utilize a property’s hot tub, pools and/or plunge pool do so at their own risk and we are not liable for any personal injury or other damages associated with such use. Guests may not use glass or pottery glassware, plates, etc. in or anywhere near any such water amenity. If any glass or pottery ware is broken in or near a water amenity, you will be charged the full amount to drain and refill the amenity and for any lost revenue during such service. Guests may not leave minors unattended at any hot tub, pool or plunge pool. If a water amenity is left uncovered, you will be charged a minimum of $100 for additional cleaning/filling/heating.
No lifeguard is on duty; the primary guest on the reservation is responsible for the safe operation of the pool and for the safety of any persons using the pool; by utilizing any pool or spa all guests acknowledge and accept the risk of injury resulting from use of the pool, malfunction of pool equipment, tripping or falling around the pool/spa and any other injuries that may occur and waive all claims against the homeowner or its representatives including Homestead Modern LLC.

• Guests shall allow the property owner or any designated workers access to the property for landscaping and routine maintenance, cleaning, repairs and building inspections, and pool and hot tub repairs and service.

• If for any reason beyond the control of the owner, the property is unavailable, we may cancel your reservation with only a refund to the actual fees and / or deposits you have paid.

• Smoking is not allowed inside the property or within 15 feet of any exterior door. Please dispose of your extinguished cigarette waste into a plastic bag and then into the outdoor

garbage can. Do not leave cigarette waste on the grounds. If these rules are violated, we will charge a minimum of $250.

• Propane firepits or fireplaces may not be used for burning wood or any other materials (it is illegal pursuant to a county ordinance and may damage the fixture). If any combustible materials are burned in them, we will charge a minimum of $500 cleaning fee.

• By making your reservation, you confirm that you will comply with (and your stay is allowed by) any applicable health or safety orders from the State of California.

• Firearms are not allowed on the property.

• Local ordinances prohibit any loud, excessive, or intrusive noise that disturbs the peace or that causes discomfort or annoyance to any reasonable person at any time as well as strict quiet hours between 10PM and 7AM. You must adhere to these rules.

• Please pay attention to all relevant short-term rental ordinances and other regulations (such as the noise ordinance above) in accordance with county or town guidelines. If you violate any ordinance and as a result the property is fined, you will be responsible for payment of the fine plus a $500 administrative fee.

• Payments are due 50% at 60 days before check-in and 50% at 30 days before check-in (or at the time of reservation if less than the days for either payment).

• A deposit is required at the time of booking and any unused portion will be returned 7 days after checkout. Bookings may include an accidental damage protection fee – with payment of this non-refundable fee, you will not be held responsible to pay for accidental damage or loss to the rental property resulting from you or others in your party up to $1000 and that you report to us during your stay. This plan does not cover intentional acts of a guest, gross negligence, or willful and wanton conduct, and/or damages caused by pets.

• We may withhold all or part of your deposit if you fail to follow the rules in this agreement, the property listing or the property house manual. If the cost of the damages, losses, or missing items exceed the amount of the deposit, we will bill your credit card for the difference and / or pursue legal action. Cause(s) for withholding deposit funds include, but are not limited to: damage to premises or contents, missing or broken items, lost keys, required excessive cleaning, not complying fully with the departure checklist, smoke odors or damage, mailing charges for items left behind, unauthorized persons visiting or staying on the property, the presence of a dog without authorization, noise complaints after 10PM, including fines, trespassing on neighboring properties, violation of any county or town rules and unauthorized late check-out.

• We are not responsible for any personal injury or personal property loss or damage that you or your guests may incur while at the property, you assume all risks associated with your visit and will hold the property owner and manager harmless from any injuries, loss or damage.

A truly immersive desert experience. Everything to love about the desert is here! A beautiful boulder garden, creosotes and junipers, plentiful wildlife, fire pit and hot tub under the starry sky. All inclusive kitchen, bathrooms, climate control, WiFi, entertainment. Gorgeous decor and the owner is clearly a Ramones & Cramps fan, which we love! Close to town but Instacart also delivers! Our family absolutely loved our week stay here. We didn’t want to leave. Couldn’t have asked for more!

I couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay for a reset/relaxing vacation. I honestly thought the pictures were too good to be true but it is even better in person. I’d argue it is on the best piece of land in the neighborhood as it is private, and has a lot of scenery/huge boulders to look at. The home was extremely comfortable. The artwork everywhere meant it was never boring and always something cool to look at. Extremely clean and had everything I needed/forgot at home. I just can’t get over this place. Such a great home. I hope to visit again.

This Casa is absolutely delightful!! The themed artwork and aesthetic touches are so beautiful. As it was a bit chilly, we didn’t spend time in the back garden but it looks like the perfect place to relax and soak up the views. A lovely home stocked with everything you could need. The heating system is superb. Responsive host and well worth spending more than a night here. Highly recommended!

We had a great experience with Homestead Modern and with the property itself. The pictures do not do it justice! The place was immaculately clean and every little detail was thought out, from the outdoor blankets, fully stocked kitchen utensils, to the large amount of quality ground coffee. For coffee heads, they got you covered with a drip coffee machine. They even have a cute set up for those who bring dogs! As many have mentioned, the art work is amazing! We spent some time walking around and admiring each piece. The true spectacle is when you walk in and see the massive boulders from the yard! The surroundings were quiet and felt private for the most part. The hot tub is next level! Of course outdoor towels were provided too. Would highly recommend and we would love to come back soon! If I could give this property and host 100 stars I would. I am a former superhost and my Airbnb was meticulously cleaned and decorated… or so I thought!! This place is on truly another level. First, the pictures do not do it justice. Each room had stunning pieces of Mexican pottery and art. My best friend and I wandered around and made a list of which 5 pieces we would own in a dream world. I honestly can’t even believe the host risks having these pieces in the house, but we are grateful! Second, the location itself is beyond. Sitting in the hot tub at night watching the stars!! And the fireplace set into the boulders. Dreamy. I’ve actually never written this much in a review but I can’t stop! The hosts were so kind and responsive and left us a much needed bottle of tequila. We were just packing up (a couple of min late) when the cleaners arrived and they were also lovely and accommodating. I’m moving back to NYC or I would plan to visit many more times.

Hello, Let me just say this place is magical and I would have put 5 stars on this beautiful place with an unbeatable view except 2 amenities made it unusable at night. The BBQ was not working and the Ceiling lights on the patio made it unsafe at night. I was truly looking forward to spending dinner with my family coming from France but couldn`t do it that night... I must express my dissatisfaction with the small refund amount and the overall resolution offered by the owner. As a guest, I had certain expectations for my stay, and unfortunately, those expectations were not fully met. While I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, I believe that a better job could have been done in addressing the issues I encountered during my stay.

The pictures don’t do the place justice. This was a 10/10 stay and me and my partner didn’t want to leave at the end of our stay. It’s extremely secluded and the boulders make it feel like you’re in a magical space. Homestead was extremely responsive to all of our needs and everything inside the house (especially the master bedroom) was beautiful from the artwork to the cozy build of the actual house itself. The fireplace, hot tub, and easy music plug + play were our favorite features.

Beautiful place nestled in the desert mountains. The description and pictures were spot on and the host thought of everything for our stay. If you are looking for a secluded place that not too far from civilization…this is it. All of the artwork and decorations were a nice touch too. I came to Casa Stells as a cathartic pilgrimage. I could not have chosen a mote perfect place. Stella far exceeded my expectations. so peaceful, surrounded by purposeful art pieces in a warm and enviting space. outside is any nature lovers dream. whether you are relaxing beneath the stars or traversing the many boulder formations, your stay here will be first rate. The most breathtaking views from every part of the property…we even got to experience some of the local wildlife! This place was secluded and peaceful. The art is really awesome. Beautiful property and the art throughout the house (and at the driveway end!) created a really unique and welcoming vibe. The property is really easy access to town for restaurants and shopping, and convenient access to one of the Park's main entrances. Loved the well-appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, wonderful outdoor living spaces, and the outdoor fireplace as well. Homestead also connected us to a really great massage therapist and her colleague who came to the house, which was a wonderful activity during our stay. We stayed in cold weather, and the only negative was that the type of hard surfaces in the house (floors, walls) that make it awesome in summer are chilly in winter so pack slippers/house shoes. The hot tub looked great, and was kept warm it looked, but is set away from the house so with the weather, we ended up not using it. Next time though, as we'd definitely stay again!

A truly immersive desert experience. Everything to love about the desert is here! A beautiful boulder garden, creosotes and junipers, plentiful wildlife, fire pit and hot tub under the starry sky. All inclusive kitchen, bathrooms, climate control, WiFi, entertainment. Gorgeous decor and the owner is clearly a Ramones & Cramps fan, which we love! Close to town but Instacart also delivers! I couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay for a reset/relaxing vacation. I honestly thought the pictures were too good to be true but it is even better in person. I’d argue it is on the best piece of land in the neighborhood as it is private, and has a lot of scenery/huge boulders to look at. The home was extremely comfortable. The artwork everywhere meant it was never boring and always something cool to look at. Extremely clean and had everything I needed/forgot at home. I just can’t get over this place. Such a great home. I hope to visit again.

Beautiful place nestled in the desert mountains. The description and pictures were spot on and the host thought of everything for our stay. If you are looking for a secluded place that not too far from civilization…this is it. All of the artwork and decorations were a nice touch too. The beds were super comfortable and each room has so many windows that you can enjoy the property from just about anywhere in the home as well. Thank you for making our stay special.

One of the best airbnbs I have stayed in. Beautiful place in the middle of nowhere. Very private and secluded and peaceful. Perfect place to escape and unwind. The backyard is dream like. Sit down by the fireplace and stargaze. 100% recommend to anyone who is planning to visit Joshua Tree National Park.

I came to Casa Stells as a cathartic pilgrimage. I could not have chosen a mote perfect place. Stella far exceeded my expectations. so peaceful, surrounded by purposeful art pieces in a warm and enviting space. outside is any nature lovers dream. whether you are relaxing beneath the stars or traversing the many boulder formations, your stay here will be first rate. The host was the most thoughtful and communicative I have ever had. If I could rate more than 5 stars I surely would!

The most breathtaking views from every part of the property…we even got to experience some of the local wildlife! This place was secluded and peaceful. The art is really awesome. The attention to detail was on point, we felt like we were right at home. Very convenient location…so much within 15-20 mins (attractions and food). Stay here, you won’t regret your choice.

Went to Casa Stella for my birthday and it was beautiful! The hot tub was awesome at night to relax and look at the stars. The fire pit was so cool but we couldn’t use it because it was so windy. Very lovely home and will be returning!!

We had a wonderful time at Homestead Modern’s beautiful property! We were looking for somewhere that felt private and had a nice view and this home delivered! We had everything we needed for our stay and the home was very clean! We also loved the beds, pillows, and towels! They were all incredibly comfy and soft. The hot tub was excellent as well - very clean, hot, and in a great spot for stargazing! Our group would absolutely return to this property!

Beautiful property and the art throughout the house (and at the driveway end!) created a really unique and welcoming vibe. The property is really easy access to town for restaurants and shopping, and convenient access to one of the Park's main entrances. Loved the well-appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, wonderful outdoor living spaces, and the outdoor fireplace as well. Homestead also connected us to a really great massage therapist and her colleague who came to the house, which was a wonderful activity during our stay. We stayed in cold weather, and the only negative was that the type of hard surfaces in the house (floors, walls) that make it awesome in summer are chilly in winter so pack slippers/house shoes. The hot tub looked great, and was kept warm it looked, but is set away from the house so with the weather, we ended up not using it. Next time though, as we'd definitely stay again!
