-- ACTIVITIES/ATTRACTIONS --
Visitors come to the High Desert for its unique landscape, culture, and recreational opportunities, as well as for the weather - hot and dry summers and mild winters at our high altitude. Joshua Tree and the communities surrounding the Joshua Tree National Park include Flamingo Heights, Pioneertown, Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, and Landers. You’ll be close to everything at Sage Retreat. Some of our favorite options available to you:

–Joshua Tree National Park: 800,000 acres of mystical beauty - Joshua Tree National Park is one of the world’s most incredible natural desert treasures. Sweeping, grand in scale and populated by granite monoliths and voluptuous rock and boulder formations. This quiet land, conducive to meditation and roaming, was carved by extremes in climate - wind, rain and an ever-present, relentless sun. Diverse forms of plant life are found everywhere, but none as unique or prevalent as the park’s namesake: the Joshua tree, standing majestically across the vast topography.

–Pioneertown: Step back in time to this rustic Old West-style village. Wander through the historic buildings, visit unique shops, catch a live music performance at Pappy & Harriets, and experience the Wild West charm.

–The Integratron: New age-y healing destination with a sound bath, originally designed by ufologist George Van Tassel with the goal of reversing the aging process.

Location is absolutely fantastic with incredible views! Super convenient base camp for exploring the National park from 3 different entrances and area attractions (Rhythm of Life, Desert Christ Park, Giant Rock, Noah Purifoy Desert Art Museum, Transmission sculpture, Pioneertown, Joshua Tree Rock Shop. etc. and even day trips to Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs). While it is "remote" as listed, you are able to see the properties and RVs directly behind and to the right of this house (but still overall very private, secluded, and safe). House is clean and beautifully decorated, along with great books, cards, and games. Enjoyed the hot tub, outdoor fire pit, and hammocks. Only “issues" (but not deal breakers) were no dish/kitchen towels, only 1 wine glass (that broke in the dishwasher), occasional low water pressure, the water in master shower taking several minutes to heat up, and the back outdoor strong lights were not functional. Nothing huge and we would still recommend!

The host was very responsive and provided reminders for check-in and check-out which was convenient, so we didn't have to pull up past emails and info. The site and location were extremely peaceful and quiet. The rooms were great and overall, the home was airy, full of light and well decorated - just like the pictures. Outside there was plenty of areas to relax and socialize. All of the guests were extremely impressed, and we'll likely book again in the future.

Great place out near Joshua Tree. It's a quick drive to the park for longer day hiking and the home itself is on a lovely bit of land that's well worth an explore. There are lots of cute nooks in the house where you can cozy up and read and the hot tub was a great way to warm up on cold winter nights. The hosts were very communicative when we messaged with questions. The only issue we had while there was that some of the outlets in one of the rooms weren't working, but we made do by charging things in the shared spaces. Overall would visit again and would recommend to anyone else looking for a nice desert escape!

Thank you for the review and coming to stay with us! We saw it was a breaker issue that you addressed with our instructions afterwards and that all was great, so hopefully not an issue for any future stay. Cheers!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for my birthday. It was AMAZING. There are so many wonderful listings in Joshua Tree, we spent hours picking the right place. We are so happy we chose this airbnb. The location is remote and relaxing, the best vacation to unwind and take in the scenery. The home was extremely clean, the design is beautiful. We felt very safe there too. They really thought of everything from bluetooth speakers, bbq cooking supplies, smart tv, meditation room, tea room... etc. I was really appreciative of the sustainability and care for wild life, as shown from the organic and non chemical based soaps and the wooden rod in the cowboy tub to place in there while unsupervised- I thought that was such a nice touch to take care of the precious ecosystem this property is located in. We can not wait to come back!

The home is equipped with everything needed. Shampoos, hand soap, dish soap, towels, etc were fully stocked. We brought our pup with us and he enjoyed exploring the surrounding areas. We were pleased with the dog bed, lint roller and poop bags that were ready when we arrived.

The home is designed beautifully, the interior minimalism really highlights the landscape outside which can be seen through the various windows throughout the home. An excellent design decision. The property is completely fenced in which is just a safety bonus. Check in was the smoothest I’ve experienced to this date. The comforters and bedrooms were so comfortable and clean. This is a picture perfect place for Instagram photos. The place is equipped with everything you could possibly need, from Plating, cups, kitchen utensils, lighters, flashlights, cleaning supplies and so much more. Definitely recommend you stay here.

We had a phenomenal experience at ‘The Parke’ - it is truly a magical retreat to reflect and reset in the beauty of the California high desert. The property is the star - you are surrounded by Joshua Trees and other characteristic desert vegetation — with glorious desert and butte/mountain views all around. The starry sky and Milky Way views in new moon June right from the backyard. Jackrabbits and cottontails along with many types of birds including an occasional hawk and even road-runner sighting. The outdoor spaces including hammocks, fire-pit, hot tub, and tables and seating are excellent. The house itself is filled with wonderful light- it is airy and spacious and the furniture is wonderfully appointed. It is soulful-modern. The artist’s work presented throughout the house is just lovely and somehow enhances the beauty of the desert. You will have everything you need in the kitchen except a microwave. Highly recommend!

This stunning oasis in the desert was simply gorgeous and very zen. The location is out of this world, private, calm and peaceful. We loved the soaking tub outside, the expansive property, and the curated decor and beautiful art from the owner. I felt totally unplugged and recharged by the time we left. This house has everything you could want for a perfect getaway.

Okay I think I might have gotten the two amazing properties that we stayed at with Homestead Modern confused. I wrote a review on their Jellystone property and then we also stayed at the Yucca property. Honestly both are amazing and they have done such a fabulous job of creating a vibe in the desert with both. I’d been waiting to come to Joshua Tree for over 4 years and finally made it for a relaxing weekend away with colleagues/friends. It was perfect both of their properties we’re epic and we are so grateful for the quiet time. They are very responsive and so very accommodating. Will definitely search them out again for our next trip to Joshua Tree

This is a home that was clearly made with the upmost care and love, a healing retreat and complete escape. Surrounded by nature and no sight of any other homes, privacy and serene was all we needed :) The second we arrived our whole moods shifted into ease as we relaxed into this special space. Every detail was thought of at this home. There's hammocks throughout the property, a cowboy pool, an outdoor firepit to stargaze under. All surrounding the large al fresco dining area - our favourite spot so we could eat and laugh while lounging or playing horseshoe. For those, like us, that lead a conscious life - there are air purifiers in every room, such a special touch. And the decor is stunning. There is a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony table in the entry of the home. A meditative space and practice that is beautiful to start the day with. Note to future patrons - bring some special loose tea should you want to enjoy this :) This is the place to escape from and enjoy with loved ones, friends or family. This Is the place to eat, laugh and gather together. Spend the evening on the outdoor beds stargazing and sleep soundly in the quiet. Thank you for this special space - we will be back, many times x

If you’re wondering if you should rent a place with only a few reviews, the answer is a resounding yes if it’s this one. Homestead Modern goes above and beyond with service and responsiveness and if something goes wrong they make it right. The house is magical with inspired design touches, fantastic art and attention to every possible detail. This is not your soulless prefab rental house - you can feel the love and creativity in every room. Kitchen had everything we needed. Loved the new top quality linens and towels including the linen napkins. The house is very very private on a huge piece of land that is completely fenced in, with expansive views in every direction. There’s a hiking trail right across the street

We are moved to words. The context of our stay was a cross country move, and after packing our mattress (the movers were early) we needed refuge for the night. Exhausted we collapsed into the very comfortable beds of The Parke, and in the morning we awoke to discover the truly amazing space that is The Parke. Minimalism can be synonymous with ‘sterile’ and ‘boring’, but done right the style can focus your senses and deeply inspire. Never have we stayed in a space that was so intentionally designed. Sight lines continually revealed surprises, demarcations of space were beautifully articulated. I will not spoil the revelation The Parke holds for its guests, but The Parke was designed by an artist as an artists’ retreat and every detail fulfills that intention. As we left The Parke and the high-desert, I felt the deepest harmony with nature. Every journey is as much internal as external.

I cannot recommend Homestead Modern enough. Our original booking had a complication and Homestead Modern addressed it with us immediately, working with us to make sure we still had a great experience. They were considerate and communicative and ultimately we had a fantastic stay with them! The home was beautiful and everything was exactly as described. It was relaxing and comfortable, and the outdoor space was stunning. We went for R&R and we definitely got it! The art and design of the home is inspiring, bringing the outdoors & indoors together seamlessly in such a way that really makes you feel like you are staying in Joshua Tree, not just in some house somewhere. Thank you!
