On the storied grounds of the Joshua Tree Retreat Center lies leading luxury home rental provider Homestead Modern’s latest high desert hospitality project, The Bungalows—which takes desert vacationing to the next level. “We focused on organic textures and hues that blend with the desert—an effort to meld the landscape with the design,” says Homestead Modern founder David McAdam of the 14 historic suites that feature secluded patios, warm interiors and resort-like amenities.
Guests of The Bungalows can enjoy the JTRC’s pool, art collection and curated classes, plus Retreat by Homestead Modern’s concierge services. Homestead Modern teamed up with designer Brad Dunning to restore and upgrade iconic architect Harold Zook’s series of Joshua Tree vacation suites at the JTRC—which boasts the largest collection of buildings anywhere designed by Lloyd Wright (son to Frank) and has never before been open to the public for leisure travel. Says McAdam, “We feel a strong commitment to honoring and preserving the organic and midcentury architecture that is such a large part of California’s cultural history and featured at the JTRC.
