-ACTIVITIES/ATTRACTIONS-

Visitors come to the High Desert for its unique landscape, culture, and recreational opportunities, as well as for the weather - hot and dry summers and mild winters at our high altitude. Joshua Tree and the communities surrounding the Joshua Tree National Park include Flamingo Heights, Pioneertown, Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, and Landers. You’ll be close to all the action at Stella. Some of our favorite options available to you:

–Joshua Tree National Park: 800,000 acres of mystical beauty - Joshua Tree National Park is one of the world’s most incredible natural desert treasures. Sweeping, grand in scale and populated by granite monoliths and voluptuous rock and boulder formations. This quiet land, conducive to meditation and roaming, was carved by extremes in climate - wind, rain and an ever-present, relentless sun. Diverse forms of plant life are found everywhere, but none as unique or prevalent as the park’s namesake: the Joshua tree, standing majestically across the vast topography.

–Pioneertown: Step back in time to thus rustic Old West-style village. Wander through the historic buildings, visit unique shops, catch a live music performance at Pappy & Harriets, and experience the Wild West charm.

• The Integratron: New age-y healing destination with a sound bath, originally designed by ufologist George Van Tassel with the goal of reversing the aging process.

Access Access
You will have the entire house and property to yourself. The backyard is free for you to explore but please make sure you don’t hike into neighboring properties. The property has fences in place along with trespassing signs to help guide you.
Neighborhood Neighborhood
The 320-acre private community of Rock Reach is technically in the Town of Yucca Valley, but it feels like the middle of Joshua Tree National Park – without the crowds. Most of the landscape is an untouched wonderland of weathered boulders, pinon pines, desert oak and juniper trees.

Rock Reach provides the perfect blend of pristine desert and easy access to amenities in town. The West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park is a 20-minute drive away, and the shops, restaurants, and things to do in Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree Village. A few of favorite spots in Joshua Tree Village include Space Cowboy Books, the World Famous Crochet Museum, and the Joshua Tree Saloon.

In addition to shopping and dining, you won’t want to miss these nearby highlights:
• Pioneertown (15-minute drive) - Put on your ten-gallon hat and stroll down Mane Street of this Wild West-inspired town, also known for Pappy & Harriet’s, a notable restaurant and venue.
• Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum (20-minute drive) - As far from a stuffy gallery as you can imagine, this outdoor sculpture garden contains a unique collection of folk-art.
• The Integratron (20-minute drive) - New age-y healing destination with a sound bath, originally designed by ufologist George Van Tassel with the goal of reversing the aging process.
• Palm Springs (40-minute drive) - Artsy town known for vintage shopping, art galleries, and the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.
• Mt. San Jacinto State Park (90-minute drive) - Expansive, hilly landscape with foot and horseback trails surrounding 10,834-foot Mount San Jacinto.

This Casa is absolutely delightful!! The themed artwork and aesthetic touches are so beautiful. As it was a bit chilly, we didn’t spend time in the back garden but it looks like the perfect place to relax and soak up the views. A lovely home stocked with everything you could need. The heating system is superb. Responsive host and well worth spending more than a night here. Highly recommended!

I have stayed in quite a few Airbnb’s, and this one was by far an exception in my mind. The unmatched tranquility and beauty of the nature and surrounding area elevates the spirit. The home had character and was very clean and safe. It’s also very close to some of the best dining, and most unique attractions in the area.

We had a great experience with Homestead Modern and with the property itself. The pictures do not do it justice! The place was immaculately clean and every little detail was thought out, from the outdoor blankets, fully stocked kitchen utensils, to the large amount of quality ground coffee. For coffee heads, they got you covered with a drip coffee machine. They even have a cute set up for those who bring dogs! As many have mentioned, the art work is amazing! We spent some time walking around and admiring each piece. The true spectacle is when you walk in and see the massive boulders from the yard! The surroundings were quiet and felt private for the most part. The hot tub is next level! Of course outdoor towels were provided too. Would highly recommend and we would love to come back soon! Thank you for sharing your space with us!

Would love to return during cooler weather. Beautiful scenery and stars and wildlife! Would def return in the future! there's also markets near by and a great sushi restaurant called Aki

Beautiful place nestled in the desert mountains. The description and pictures were spot on and the host thought of everything for our stay. If you are looking for a secluded place that not too far from civilization…this is it. All of the artwork and decorations were a nice touch too. The beds were super comfortable and each room has so many windows that you can enjoy the property from just about anywhere in the home as well. Thank you for making our stay special.

Howdy Robin! So happy to hear you had a great trip and enjoyed the location! Casa La Stella is known for its charm and lovely location. However, the remoteness of the desert occasionally stresses the limits of technology. Hopefully the scenic views were far more enticing than Netflix. We greatly appreciate your feedback and your valued presence as our guest. Thanks!

We had a wonderful time at Homestead Modern’s beautiful property! We were looking for somewhere that felt private and had a nice view and this home delivered! We had everything we needed for our stay and the home was very clean! We also loved the beds, pillows, and towels! They were all incredibly comfy and soft. The hot tub was excellent as well - very clean, hot, and in a great spot for stargazing! Our group would absolutely return to this property!

Beautiful property and the art throughout the house (and at the driveway end!) created a really unique and welcoming vibe. The property is really easy access to town for restaurants and shopping, and convenient access to one of the Park's main entrances. Loved the well-appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, wonderful outdoor living spaces, and the outdoor fireplace as well. Homestead also connected us to a really great massage therapist and her colleague who came to the house, which was a wonderful activity during our stay. We stayed in cold weather, and the only negative was that the type of hard surfaces in the house (floors, walls) that make it awesome in summer are chilly in winter so pack slippers/house shoes. The hot tub looked great, and was kept warm it looked, but is set away from the house so with the weather, we ended up not using it. Next time though, as we'd definitely stay again!

Thank you for staying with us! we indeed have had a cold winter. Thank you for your note and we are ordering slippers for future guests so hopefully this will assist with any future cold night and cold feet!

This is the second time that I stayed at this property. My granddaughter loved the art, my grandson loved climbing on the boulders, my son enjoyed cooking on the grill and I enjoyed watching the sunrise while drinking coffee and watching a covey of quail feeding in the backyard. It’s a beautiful place.

Great location, can’t beat the boulders and scenery on the property. Super clean, and awesome decor in the house. The hot tub and views were amazing, especially in the chilly winter air. You’re central to all Joshua tree has to offer but away enough for peace and quiet. We’re a family of four with two younger kids and they had a blast adventuring around the surrounding rocks. The host was responsive to anything and everything. Definitely will try to book this spot for future trips. One thing is the little touches. A cool guest book, a tequila bottle gift, suitcase stands, quirky cups and plates and kitchen ware, blankets for outdoors, and so on and so forth. Details like that go along way. The only negative i can come up with is that the master bedroom bed was not a king and not very comfortable for me. Obviously that can be subjective. Overall, a great place and a great time.

Casa de Stella is exactly as it looks on the online photos, only better. It is situated down a long decomposed granite/dirt road and nestled amongst billowy round boulders, cacti, Joshua Tree, Acacia and other native plants. In the morning, I would sit on the little bench in the front to drink my coffee and enjoy the birdsong. The rising sun painted the boulders across the little washed out ravine shades of coral and gold. The local wildlife and fauna was fabulous to witness. We were visited by a covey of Quail, Big eared Jackrabbits, Hummingbirds, Red-tailed Hawks, lizards and down the road we pulled the car over to meet a desert tortoise. The most exciting thing was to see a lone Coyote hunting for breakfast at daybreak. The interior of Casa de Stella is filled with old artistic and spiritual energy, indigenous art and simple furnishings. The kitchen is well accommodated and the beds were neither soft nor hard. We immediately felt comfortable and excited about discovering all of the art at home on the walls, nooks and shelves. We were far enough away from the traffic and shops yet close enough to enjoy the local fare. Two local establishments stood out far above all others. The first is La Copine on Old Woman Springs Rd. We stopped for lunch and wine just as we arrived in town. It was a warm but not hot day and we chose to sit outside under the umbrellas. The food was outstanding, Tuna Insulate, fried eggplant with tomato chutney and Ceviche paired well with a cool vin-rouge. The other is the kind of bakery that you want within walking distance of your house. But it isn't so you must go while in town. I owned my own bakery for 12 years and have been making croissants, bread and other seasonal goods for a long, long time. Let's just say that Luna Sourdough is crafting some of the best sourdough croissants I've had the pleasure of meeting. On the way out to Joshua Tree National Park, we stopped by for the last time. I picked up a Ciabatta sandwich with prosciutto, goat cheese, fig jam and arugula....outstanding! The owners and staff (Julia, Ian, Madeline and Maddy) are young, hardworking and lovely! It was an absolute pleasure. They are located on 29 Palms Highway in Yucca Valley. All and all, Casa de Stella was a tonic to our weary souls. We shall return!

Beautiful. Serene. Extraordinary. Necessary. Impeccable attention to detail including the greeting left for us at the front door to the bright artwork delicately placed around the home. So much to look at and admire! The house gets a lot of sunlight and has such a warm, cozy vibe throughout. The road leading to the driveway is a bumpy one and quite a ways from the main road which is great for those seeking silence. You can’t hear any vehicles from the house. It’s just you, the quail family, the jackrabbits, bunnies and coyote! Our only complaint was how slow the wifi speed was. The router is located in the garage which was locked so we couldn’t reset it or anything. However, HM responded swiftly and kindly and sent someone out right away to assist. He came with a hot spot and stayed to troubleshoot until we were satisfied. We got the speed ramped up just enough to get some work done online. HM goes above and beyond from our experience with them thus far! Ultimately we extended our stay and are so happy that we did. There is all that you need to eat, bbq, mix drinks, etc. such as cooking oil, foil, pots/pans, coffee and such an artful array of coffee mugs and glassware! Oh, and the hot tub…. you must watch the night sky from there. It’s just beautiful and set up cozily next to the boulders in the backyard in a private space. It’s located on the other side of the fire pit area which is also nestled up to the boulders. We had such an amazing stay with the rain, thunderstorms and the biggest, brightest rainbow we’ve ever seen! Enjoy your stay. :)

This Airbnb was so beautiful and I’m glad we were able to book on short notice. The home was very spacious and well furnished. We were able to enjoy the hot tub at night, and could see the stars from the backyard. The wi-fi was slow, but it was expected. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a family dinner which was very appreciated. Overall would recommend this home to anyone visiting Joshua Tree.

Great, unique place to spend a weekend. The property is magnificent, with a huge pile of boulders next to the fire pit behind the house and a hot tub to enjoy the desert night under the stars. Fun decorating theme throughout the home, with lots of little details and really nice art. Three big bedrooms, giant circular driveway. The whole property is very private - you can see the neighbors' houses but you can't hear them. Private enough to feel alone. The Host was very communicative and quick to address concerns. Highly recommended.

Casa La Stella is a piece of functional art that seems to exist like a mirage, shimmering elusively just beyond the blurred heat waves of reality. We absolutely loved this incredibly private oasis, surrounded by vibrant desert flora, resident jack rabbits, abundant bird life that we communed with from the shaded patio. It's like the night sky cradles Casa La Stella protectively, and anyone lucky enough to be there. We sat by the adobe hearth, flames flickering, and watched the sky. One could easily spend a weekend hiking the nearby proper national park trails and returning nightly to this beautiful spot - however, we didn't want to leave for even a minute. It might be on planet earth, but Casa La Stella is its own little world, a shining hidden desert gem of the rarest quality, not to be missed.

If you are looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay in a beautiful home, this is the place. This home met all of our expectations and more! We could not get over the beautiful decor, lovely views, and family areas in which we played games, had a family dinner and enjoyed Yucca Valley's beautiful weather and nature. The home's backyard was perfect, equipped with a fireplace that was incredible during the star gaze portion of the trip. Homestead Modern accommodated our needs, and the communication to book, guidance for the home, and tour of Yucca Valley was simple and perfect. I will be staying here again and highly recommend this location!

This is an ideal place if you want to get away from the city life. It's quiet and the area is spacious enough to have your own privacy. We love the interior especially the decoration. The rooms are accommodating and the beds were comfy. The backyard was the best part of the house. We loved the back drop, it reminds me of the Jumbo Rock campground. The fire pit was warm enough for us to hang out through out the night. The host was very responsive and willing to answer any questions I have. 10/10 would come here again!
