Space

Brought to life with the help of Homestead Modern, Hi-Desert Fade sits in a rocky canyon among ancient pinyon pine trees whose roots sustain the trees by following — and further opening — cracks in the rock where water accumulates. Among the diverse fauna dotting the floor of the canyon are desert scrub oaks, Joshua trees, yuccas, cholla, and creosote.

The canyon is sparsely populated and largely undeveloped. The dirt road that leads to Hi-Desert Fade dead ends just to the west, where the canyon abuts on endless wilderness. Members of the small, private community share a deep regard for the serene remoteness and ecological vibrance of the area. The vistas and geologic formations rival the most striking destinations in the National Park.

Hiking opportunities abound and bird watching is remarkably worthwhile throughout the year. Listen carefully after a rain storm — you’ll notice a rare desert soundtrack as waterfalls and washes spring to life. Most winters bring at least a dusting of snow — a surreal sight to behold against the desert landscape.

-BEDS & BATHS-
This two bedroom home can comfortably sleep up to 4 guests. Private, adjoining patios and floor to ceiling windows encourage movement between indoor and outdoor spaces. Each bedroom features a California king bed, Parachute Linens, Blacksaw alpaca textiles, and a desk to write or work.
Both bathrooms include walk-in showers, and a washer and dryer are available for any laundry needs. For maximum privacy, the two bedrooms and baths are located on opposite ends of the house.

-KITCHEN & DINING-
The kitchen, dining area and living room are positioned in the open center of the house, where 13 foot ceilings and soaring walls of glass frame the majesty of the desert backdrop.

This kitchen is equipped with a Wolf Range, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher, and the drawers are stocked with dishes and utensils. With Le Creuset bakeware, a Kitchen-aid Mixer, and an abundance of serving trays, this kitchen is a chef’s dream! There’s also a coffee maker, french press and blender so you can whip up your morning beverage of choice.

The warm, wood dining table and Danish Raholt dining chairs accommodate six people. The outdoor dining table is located on the main deck, which extends the length of the house. We recommend at least one meal under the stars; with so little light pollution in the canyon, the night sky’s constellations are especially brilliant.

-LIVING SPACE-
Although you might be tempted to forgo technology during your stay, the living room has a smart TV and bluetooth speaker so you can stream your favorite shows. Prepare a drink at the bar, grab a Phaidon design book, and settle in among vintage bedouin pillows while the sun sets across the boulders.

-OUTDOOR SPACE-
The house offers generous shaded sitting areas outside for comfort, even at the height of summer. A propane fire feature invites guests to pull chairs close for magical nights, even when the weather turns cool.

After a day of activities, follow a short path to a secluded group of boulders where a hot tub awaits, along with a “cowboy tub” — a repurposed galvanized stock tank offering cool dips in warm weather. Hammocks and a Petanque court are scattered in different corners of the property! ATVs and dirt bikes are not allowed on this property and cannot be used off road in this neighborhood.

We pay above the living wage standards; 100% of your cleaning fee is paid to the cleaners (i.e. no profit to us) and we insist on a professional level of cleaning between guests. We love the High Desert for a lot of reasons - including the open spaces, lack of crowds, and dry weather that we believe make it a safe place to visit..

Neighborhood

Pipes Canyon is one of the most sought-after locations in the High Desert. It’s close to everything – and yet very much set apart with next to no light or noise pollution. The area is surrounded by dramatic flat-top lava buttes, towering and weathered boulders, and an abundance of Joshua trees.

Pipes Canyon is immediately adjacent to the Sand to Snow National Monument as well as the Pioneertown Mountains Preserve, both offering endless hiking and exploring opportunities, and the West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park is about 30 minutes away by car.

Although you may be tempted to spend your whole trip exploring Pipes Canyon, many more area highlights are accessible within a short drive:
• Pioneertown (10-minute drive) - Put on your ten-gallon hat and stroll down Mane Street of this Wild West-inspired town, also known for Pappy & Harriet’s, a notable restaurant and venue.
• Yucca Valley (20-minute drive) - Convenient stop for chain stores and local eateries, like Carla's Route 62 Diner and C & S Coffee Shop
• Joshua Tree Village (20-minute drive) - Quirky strip of boutiques and restaurants, including Coyote Corner, Space Cowboy Books, and the rustic Joshua Tree Saloon

This is a remote location down dirt roads, so please take it slow. While a car is required to get around, a four wheel drive car is not, but note that roads will often have ruts, particularly after a rain.

HouseRules

VACATION RENTAL AGREEMENT
THIS AGREEMENT IS NOT A LEASE AND CONVEYS NO RIGHTS IN REAL PROPERTY AT ANY TIME. YOUR USE IS LIMITED TO THAT DEFINED HEREIN.

• The number of people on the property may not exceed the number of guests in your reservation confirmation plus two (regardless of whether they are staying the night or just visiting). Additional guest fees starting at $65 per person per night will apply for any unauthorized persons.

• Your sole right to access the property begins with the 3PM check-in and ends at the 11AM check-out, unless other times are approved in writing in advance. Check-in is not allowed after 9PM unless approved in advance. We will charge 50% of the daily rate for an unauthorized early arrival or late check-out.

• Dogs are allowed with prior written permission, with the payment of an additional cleaning fee, and only at certain properties. Dog owners agree to the following additional rules: use protective sheets that we will leave out for you to cover any place where your dog may lie (we are not equipped to shampoo furniture or rugs or dry clean bedding after your departure); dogs must be leashed at all times when outside (there are coyotes in the High Desert, which present danger to unleashed dogs) and owners must immediately pick up after their dogs and deposit waste in a plastic bag and place it in the garbage bin; dogs are not to be left unattended in the property at any time. In addition to our additional dog cleaning fee, we will deduct the costs of extra cleaning or repairs necessitated by the presence of your dog. If you bring any animal to
a house that does not allow pets, you will be charged a $500 fee for deep cleaning and dander removal.

• Recreational vehicles, motorcycles and camping or other overnight accommodations outside the property are not allowed. Violations of this policy will result in termination of the reservation with no refund.

• We do not guarantee the speed or availability of internet service. Internet service may be provided by a satellite and/or wireless provider and may be subject to more fluctuations and outages than you may be used to. We do not provide refunds or discounts due to internet problems that are related to the provider or weather. No illegal or abusive use of the Internet is allowed.

• Cell service may not be available at the property due to the rural nature and geography of the area.

• The High Desert occasionally has power outages due to its rural nature. We are not responsible for any outages of Southern California Edison or any inconvenience such outage may cause. We will notify you of any planned outages and if requested will attempt to accommodate you elsewhere in the event of a planned outage lasting more than 4 hours. But we do not provide refunds or discounts for power outages that are unplanned.

• No photoshoots are allowed on the property without prior written approval and the payment of additional fees. Unauthorized use of the rental property’s name, address, or images, including its interior, exterior, and / or private property surroundings, for any commercial use including but not limited to selling, advertising, TV, film production, electronic, or other media, is not permitted and we will seek to have any unauthorized use removed.

• Special events such as weddings and parties are not permitted without written approval and the payment of additional fees.

• Guests who utilize a property’s hot tub, pools and/or plunge pool do so at their own risk and we are not liable for any personal injury or other damages associated with such use. Guests may not use glass or pottery glassware, plates, etc. in or anywhere near any such water amenity. If any glass or pottery ware is broken in or near a water amenity, you will be charged the full amount to drain and refill the amenity and for any lost revenue during such service. Guests may not leave minors unattended at any hot tub, pool or plunge pool. If a water amenity is left uncovered, you will be charged a minimum of $100 for additional cleaning/filling/heating.

No lifeguard is on duty; the primary guest on the reservation is responsible for the safe operation of the pool and for the safety of any persons using the pool; by utilizing any pool or spa all guests acknowledge and accept the risk of injury resulting from use of the pool, malfunction of pool equipment, tripping or falling around the pool/spa and any other injuries that may occur and waive all claims against the homeowner or its representatives including Homestead Modern LLC.

• Guests shall allow the property owner or any designated workers access to the property for landscaping and routine maintenance, cleaning, repairs and building inspections, and pool and hot tub repairs and service.

• If for any reason beyond the control of the owner, the property is unavailable, we may cancel your reservation and refund the actual fees and / or deposits you have paid.

• Smoking is not allowed inside the property or within 15 feet of any exterior door. Please dispose of your extinguished cigarette waste in a plastic bag and then into the outdoor garbage can. Do not leave cigarette waste on the grounds. If these rules are violated, we will charge a minimum of $250 for remediation.

• Propane firepits or fireplaces may not be used for burning wood or any other materials (it is illegal pursuant to a county ordinance and may damage the fixture). If any combustible materials are burned in them, we will charge a minimum of $500 cleaning fee.

• By making your reservation, you confirm that you will comply with (and your stay is allowed by) any applicable health or safety orders from the State of California.

• Firearms are not allowed on the property.

• Local ordinances prohibit any loud, excessive, or intrusive noise that disturbs the peace or that causes discomfort or annoyance to any reasonable person at any time as well as strict quiet hours between 10PM and 7AM.

• Please pay attention to all relevant short-term rental ordinances and other regulations (such as the noise ordinance above) in accordance with county or town guidelines. If you violate any ordinance and as a result the property is fined, you will be responsible for payment of the fine plus a $500 administrative fee.

• Payments are due 50% at 60 days before check-in and 50% at 30 days before check-in (or at the time of reservation if less than the days for either payment). For bookings made directly on our website, no cancellation is allowed less than 5 days before check-in (100% of the charges and booking fees are non-refundable at that time).

• A deposit is required at the time of booking and any unused portion will be returned 7 days after checkout. Bookings made directly on our website or through Vrbo are charged an accidental damage protection fee – with payment of this non-refundable fee, you will not be held responsible to pay for accidental damage or loss to the rental property resulting from you or others in your party up to $1000 and that you report to us during your stay. This plan does not cover intentional acts of a guest, gross negligence, or willful and wanton conduct, and/or damages caused by pets.

• We may withhold all or part of your deposit if you fail to follow the rules in this agreement, the property listing or the property house manual. If the cost of the damages, losses, or missing items exceed the amount of the deposit, we will bill your credit card for the difference and / or pursue legal action. Cause(s) for withholding deposit funds include, but are not limited to: damage to premises or contents, missing or broken items, lost keys, required excessive cleaning, not complying fully with the departure checklist, smoke odors or damage, mailing charges for items left behind, unauthorized persons visiting or staying on the property, the presence of a dog without authorization, noise complaints after 10PM, including fines, trespassing on neighboring properties, violation of any county or town rules and unauthorized late check-out.

We loved our stay here so much. Before we left we were already planning our next visit. The hosts are so thoughtful and have stocked the house with so many essentials. Their kitchen supplies are the most impressive I’ve ever seen. The host was responsive and helpful when we couldn’t figure out how to get the heater working when we first got there (it was working in no time). You will not regret choosing this as a place to stay especially if you plan to cook, bake, BBQ etc.. We can’t wait to visit again!

The perfect secluded sanctuary. Being from LA this was an ideal escape. Tranquil, quiet and very private. The surrounding environment was better than some of the national parks in that area in its remarkable beauty. Pics don’t do it justice. The home itself had everything you could possibly need to hunker down. As an avid cook I was thrilled with how equipped the kitchen was. I wrote down names of plates and tools so I can later buy the goods - it was that well curated. Thank you so much for this unforgettable trip. This house is amazing! Finding it can be a little intimidating at first, but it is so worth the stay. We had some issues out of the control of the host such as the Wi-Fi and dishwasher being out of service due to a recent storm. The host was awesome and communicative about these issues before we arrived and even offered us other housing options which we greatly appreciated. We chose to stick with this house and we’re so happy we did. It is a magical place to stay and we were happy to unplug for a few days.

The Homestead Modern property, Hi-Desert Fade, was absolutely stunning . So peaceful, quiet and isolated. We had an issue with the WiFi not working at the property and some ants (which can be expected in the desert). But, they were quick to find a resolution for us and moved us to another Homestead Modern property nearby, which was just as lovely and peaceful. The homes are beautifully decorated in modern simple decor that creates an overall peaceful feeling in the home. There is a fully stocked kitchen, which we loved! I have never seen such a well stocked kitchen at an air bnb. The views from the hot tub are just spectacular during the day and evening. If you feel like you need to get away from the chaos of the city for some peace and rejuvenation but not have to travel too far, Pioneertown is the definitely the right place to be. The customer service was excellent overall. We plan on returning back again to stay at another homestead property soon.

The surroundings are incredible and being able to stargaze from a hot tub was such a treat. We had a peaceful few days at this property with our toddler. The home is well appointed and has such amazing views/amenities. The sand road on the way in was so much fun and set on a beautiful landscape. The house was exactly how we imagined based on the listing, no surprises. While the space wasn’t 100% toddler friendly (hard surfaces and corners) we made it work. Cell and WiFi were a little spotty but that’s the point of this place…to unwind! Wish we could have stayed longer.

From the secluded oasis, desert views, and attention to detail throughout the property, they did not skip a beat when designing this architecturally stunning home. I've stayed in several Airbnb's and nothing compares to the superior service of Homestead Modern. From the electric blinds, well-stocked pantry, abundance of cooking utensils, cozy beds, multiple private patios, floor-to-ceiling window views, welcome gift, dog-friendly bed, and bedding, ample outdoor seating, and lounging, private hiking trails in your backyard, outdoor amenities, great air conditioning, and rolling carts to carry your luggage inside they have thought of everything. The place and area was absolutely gorgeous. Had to wait a few minutes till the cleaning crew left but they left it immaculate and spotless. I brought my dog and they even left a little bed and a couple bowls for him! All the ameneities worked and looked like the pictures. The kitchen was stocked full with everything you need to cook an awesome meal. I’d say the only downside was the small pool was drained and was littered with dead bugs at the bottom so we didn’t care to fill it up. Anyways this is a perfect getaway if you’re looking for some peace and quiet. 10/10 would recommend.

Amazing location to get away and unwind. If you’re looking for solitude and to feel like you’re staying inside the park itself this is the spot. It is a decent drive to town or the park itself but we didn’t mind at all. Perfectly managed as well and stocked with everything you need. Hot tub was amazing, grill worked perfectly, bocce ball was surprisingly fun and relaxing, and we even used the cowboy tub to do cold plunges. Couldn’t recommend more.

This place was absolutely SURREAL. In the middle of Joshua Tree, with joshua trees and rocks completely surrounding you. The house is incredibly modern with floor to ceiling windows, a fantastic hot tub and fire pit. Everything you could imagine in Joshua Tree and built just like the pictures. Highly recommend!

Really gorgeous location, well appointed, and private. We had some issues checking in which were a bit annoying (the electric lock didn’t work, there’s no cell service, and we couldn’t communicate via wifi from inside the house). Additionally, one of the toilets was leaking and it took them three days to send someone to fix it, but they did. Would stay with them again because the house and surroundings were beautiful, but know that the little nuisances add up (like few towels and no hand towels, etc). We did let them know that there were no hand towels, but they didn’t send any new ones.

Glad this guest loved the property! Water conservation is very important in our region, so we supply our guests with 4 full sets plus additional pool towels, and just ask that if a guest desires more they let us know. We sent someone three times to assist with additional towels & the toilet but the first two times our team was not let into the house to assist by the guest. It was a bit strange for us, but glad we could get it fixed on our third visit and know we will always keep trying!

This is BY FAR the best Airbnb we have ever stayed in. The pictures don't do it justice. It is even better in person! We have never seen such beauty. Every view is breathtaking. I couldn't stop taking pictures. You can watch the sunrise from the bed in the mornings and boulder on the other side. Hiking right out your front or backdoor. Overall, my husband and I had a lovely stay at the High Desert Fade home. The location was amazing (BLM lands all around!) with abundant opportunities for outdoor activities. The home's architecture and interior design were beautiful and peaceful. We also appreciated the mini apple cranberry pie and delicious coffee. There were one or two things we would change about our stay to improve the quality. First, it would be nice if the Homestead Modern team would clean the hot tub after each usage, as we noticed debris in it. Second, the water pressure was very low, which made showering more of a nuisance and less of a pleasurable experience. We could come back to stay at High Desert Fade once these issues are addressed!

My 5 year old son and I had a lovely stay. The property was breathtaking. Once we were settled there was no need to go anywhere. We explored and climbed rocks right from the property. We enjoyed the hot tub, hammocks, bocce ball and board games. The home was very clean and the host was responsive. The kitchen was well stocked. The only issue we had was the hot water pressure was very low. So low that we really couldn’t shower without standing up against the wall and washing shampoo out of my hair was a challenge. Needless to say at this price point that was frustrating. I reached out the host and they apologized stating there was a power outage the week before and that may have affected it but they didn’t send anyone to look at it; although not sure what have could have been done that wasn’t disruptive to our peace. Hopefully it’s been fixed for future guests. Regardless of the water pressure issue we would absolutely stay here again! My only tip is to make sure you don’t forget any ingredients for meals. There is no delivery and it’s a a bit of a drive to the store if you need anything. Also if you think you might need extra towels for showers I suggest asking in advance as there is only 1 towel provided per guest. Heads up, the parking is a short walk to the front door. The hosts provide a wagon for your belongings but it was a surprise to me. It may have been listed in the description and I just missed it. We will be back!

This was such an awesome place beyond any words I could say or write. The owners thought of every thing in terms of amenities and comfort. The home is great. We loved the area it sits in. You are surrounded by these giant rocks all around you. The cowboy tub and jacuzzi were perfect to spend some time in. The hosts were fantastic - very responsive and accommodating. During our stay we never left the property. This is an extraordinary property. Much of it has to do with the location, which is surreal — like being on another planet. The house is remote and totally immersed in a landscape of boulders. If you need to escape and feel at one with a desert scene, this is perfect. The light from sunrise to sunset will not disappoint — it's the star of the show here, and the house was designed to take it in. There are other houses visible from the house, which might not be apparent from the photos, but this did not take away from the privacy felt here at all, which is heightened by the journey on the dirt road to get here (fairly easy to drive). Beyond the location, the house itself is remarkable and the details and attention that have been committed here are stellar. This felt like staying at a high-end hotel, with everything considered for the guests, but not "over-designed" in any way. We can't wait to return — thank you for a beautiful stay.

Gorgeous spot, cannot recommend this place enough. The house is stocked with all the little luxuries and good quality appliances you could only dream of. It really made us stay home and cook rather than eat out. The canyon is super private we felt like we had it all to ourselves. The outdoor space has so much to offer, we never really wanted to leave to explore any place else. We have a dog and he loved it! They offered extra blanket for dog, poop bags and lint roller, didn't give us any crazy restrictions (which many places do in our experience). This was a massive bonus for us, especially with such high standard of furnishings throughout the house, to feel comfortable with our dog. Hi-Desert Fade is a truly exceptional Airbnb! The location is fantastic! The remote location, surrounded by mountains of boulders is truly magical! The modern house had every amenity we could want. The floor-to-ceiling windows let the unbelievable view surround us! Beds were so comfortable! The placement of the two bedrooms at either end of the house was perfect! Beautiful bathrooms, superbly furnished kitchen! Every thing was top-of-the-line! The outside amenities were fantastic as well! We grilled out every night, and ate as the moon rose over the desert - just magical! The "cowboy tub" was perfect for taking a dip after hikes at Joshua Tree NP. We loved making s'mores around the outdoor fire circle! Having stayed in Airbnbs around the world, I would say this is one of the very best!! This home is as beautiful and luxurious as it appears in the photos. What the photos won't tell you is how unbelievably thoroughly the upscale kitchen is stocked. You could easily bake or cook anything your heart desired, only bringing the ingredients. It's a gorgeous, quiet setting, but as other have mentioned, it's very remote with not a lot of access to the outside world. We found it refreshing to be disconnected form work and responsibilities but sometimes couldn't even get calls or texts to go through. Check in and out were a breeze. We had one issue, sent an email, and the hosts immediately sent someone to take care of it and all was remedied. If you're looking to unplug and get off the grid while living in the lap of luxury, this is your spot.

I had one of the best birthday weekends here, at first I felt the price was a bit high but the experience was so unique and incredible. While the house itself was very stylish and modern, extremely clean, and well equipped - it’s the location that was mind blowing. We had first planned to go on a hike on nearby trails but we never even had to leave the property to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We took a stroll right and climbed a few rocks and were able to see the vast landscape right from our backyard. I’ve never seen so many stars in my life, never knew there were so many shooting stars every night. I must have seen 10 in just the two nights we stayed. Laying in the jacuzzi taking in the night sky was such a special moment. We did plenty of cooking and the kitchen is so well stocked with Wolf appliances and cookware. And the beds were so comfortable!! Can’t forget about the 4 hammocks and the bocce ball set up either. A perfect weekend on such an incredible property.

The perfect secluded sanctuary. Being from LA this was an ideal escape. Tranquil, quiet and very private. The surrounding environment was better than some of the national parks in that area in its remarkable beauty. Pics don’t do it justice. This house is amazing! Finding it can be a little intimidating at first, but it is so worth the stay. We had some issues out of the control of the host such as the Wi-Fi and dishwasher being out of service due to a recent storm. The host was awesome and communicative about these issues before we arrived and even offered us other housing options which we greatly appreciated. We chose to stick with this house and we’re so happy we did. It is a magical place to stay and we were happy to unplug for a few days.

The Homestead Modern property, Hi-Desert Fade, was absolutely stunning . So peaceful, quiet and isolated. We had an issue with the WiFi not working at the property and some ants (which can be expected in the desert). But, they were quick to find a resolution for us and moved us to another Homestead Modern property nearby, which was just as lovely and peaceful. The homes are beautifully decorated in modern simple decor that creates an overall peaceful feeling in the home. There is a fully stocked kitchen, which we loved! I have never seen such a well stocked kitchen at an air bnb. The views from the hot tub are just spectacular during the day and evening. If you feel like you need to get away from the chaos of the city for some peace and rejuvenation but not have to travel too far, Pioneertown is the definitely the right place to be. The customer service was excellent overall. We plan on returning back again to stay at another homestead property soon.

We had a peaceful few days at this property with our toddler. The home is well appointed and has such amazing views/amenities. The sand road on the way in was so much fun and set on a beautiful landscape. The house was exactly how we imagined based on the listing, no surprises. While the space wasn’t 100% toddler friendly (hard surfaces and corners) we made it work. Cell and WiFi were a little spotty but that’s the point of this place…to unwind! The place and area was absolutely gorgeous. Had to wait a few minutes till the cleaning crew left but they left it immaculate and spotless. I brought my dog and they even left a little bed and a couple bowls for him! All the ameneities worked and looked like the pictures. The kitchen was stocked full with everything you need to cook an awesome meal. I’d say the only downside was the small pool was drained and was littered with dead bugs at the bottom so we didn’t care to fill it up. Anyways this is a perfect getaway if you’re looking for some peace and quiet. 10/10 would recommend.

Amazing location to get away and unwind. If you’re looking for solitude and to feel like you’re staying inside the park itself this is the spot. It is a decent drive to town or the park itself but we didn’t mind at all. Perfectly managed as well and stocked with everything you need. Really gorgeous location, well appointed, and private. We had some issues checking in which were a bit annoying (the electric lock didn’t work, there’s no cell service, and we couldn’t communicate via wifi from inside the house). Additionally, one of the toilets was leaking and it took them three days to send someone to fix it, but they did. Would stay with them again because the house and surroundings were beautiful, but know that the little nuisances add up (like few towels and no hand towels, etc). We did let them know that there were no hand towels, but they didn’t send any new ones.

I couldn't stop taking pictures. You can watch the sunrise from the bed in the mornings and boulder on the other side. Hiking right out your front or backdoor. Overall, my husband and I had a lovely stay at the High Desert Fade home. The location was amazing (BLM lands all around!) with abundant opportunities for outdoor activities. The home's architecture and interior design were beautiful and peaceful. We also appreciated the mini apple cranberry pie and delicious coffee. There were one or two things we would change about our stay to improve the quality. First, it would be nice if the Homestead Modern team would clean the hot tub after each usage, as we noticed debris in it. Second, the water pressure was very low, which made showering more of a nuisance and less of a pleasurable experience. We could come back to stay at High Desert Fade once these issues are addressed!

My 5 year old son and I had a lovely stay. The property was breathtaking. Once we were settled there was no need to go anywhere. We explored and climbed rocks right from the property. We enjoyed the hot tub, hammocks, bocce ball and board games. The home was very clean and the host was responsive. The kitchen was well stocked. The only issue we had was the hot water pressure was very low. So low that we really couldn’t shower without standing up against the wall and washing shampoo out of my hair was a challenge. Needless to say at this price point that was frustrating. I reached out the host and they apologized stating there was a power outage the week before and that may have affected it but they didn’t send anyone to look at it; although not sure what have could have been done that wasn’t disruptive to our peace. Hopefully it’s been fixed for future guests. Regardless of the water pressure issue we would absolutely stay here again! My only tip is to make sure you don’t forget any ingredients for meals. There is no delivery and it’s a a bit of a drive to the store if you need anything. Also if you think you might need extra towels for showers I suggest asking in advance as there is only 1 towel provided per guest. Heads up, the parking is a short walk to the front door. The hosts provide a wagon for your belongings but it was a surprise to me. It may have been listed in the description and I just missed it. We will be back!

The home is great. We loved the area it sits in. You are surrounded by these giant rocks all around you. The cowboy tub and jacuzzi were perfect to spend some time in. The location is epic, and you feel like you're in the National Park. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are incredibly comfortable. I second the other reviews about the house's privacy. From the pictures, it's hard to tell that the house is exposed and can be seen from the road, especially at night with lights on. The hottub/pool area is also visible. The hosts were fantastic - very responsive and accommodating. During our stay we never left the property. This is an extraordinary property. Much of it has to do with the location, which is surreal — like being on another planet. The house is remote and totally immersed in a landscape of boulders. If you need to escape and feel at one with a desert scene, this is perfect. The light from sunrise to sunset will not disappoint — it's the star of the show here, and the house was designed to take it in. There are other houses visible from the house, which might not be apparent from the photos, but this did not take away from the privacy felt here at all, which is heightened by the journey on the dirt road to get here (fairly easy to drive). Beyond the location, the house itself is remarkable and the details and attention that have been committed here are stellar. This felt like staying at a high-end hotel, with everything considered for the guests, but not "over-designed" in any way. We can't wait to return — thank you for a beautiful stay.

Very nice place with one of a kind views. The house was the perfect size and had the modern amenities for an upscale retreat to nature. Glad I filled up my tires and alignment, if you are not used to driving on unpaved roads you will be soon, and it wasn't a problem for my Sedan. Beautiful home, well equipped, with thoughtful touches throughout. We enjoyed every amenity available…hot tub, fire pit, bocci ball, etc. The location is incredibly peaceful but still a quick drive to town. Good location for exploring NP, Pioneertown, restaurants, etc. Linens top notch. Kitchen perfectly stocked. Beautiful scenery. You won’t regret this stay.

We loved our stay! The house was very spacious and the views were extraordinary. The outdoor features were terrific—hot tub, BBQ area with dining and bar, fire pit and Bocce court. The kitchen was so well outfitted with quality appliances and cookware. We prepared all our meals easily and ate comfortably with beautiful views. We can’t wait to come back!

Best Airbnb Ever - I can't say enough good things about this wonderful home. Everything inside is topnotch and high qualify from the kitchen appliances to the furniture - even the beds are comfy. But let's be real, the best part of this house is the incredible scenery and how the home embraces it. The views from all rooms are stunning. You will be blown away by how the rocks change color at sunrise and sunset. Sitting in the hottub, looking up at the stars is a must. Pioneertown is ten minutes away and Yucca Valley about 20. I wish we could have stayed another day. I hated to leave! Don't miss this amazing stay!

This house is as good as advertised. Its location is several miles down a dirt road that requires patience. But once you arrive, you are treated to a house that provides comfort and privacy in the uniqueness that is Joshua Tree.

We had a stupendous 5 days at Hi-Desert Fade! The house and the surrounding canyon far exceeded our expectations. The only downside was that it was hard to leave each morning to explore Joshua Tree and Palm Springs. We hurried back each afternoon to scamper around the canyon and enjoy the hot tub and gorgeous views! Our 21 yr. old son, who is hard to impress, is now plotting ways to spend more time in the desert! We can't wait to return!

Beautiful place to be out in the desert! The beds are comfy, it has everything you need, and it’s really chic. There are houses close by, but we never noticed any other people that would bother us. It is up a dirt road a ways, but that wasn’t a problem for us. Would stay here again!

What a gem. Views for miles. Great location, far away from the crowds and close enough to Pappy’s, La Copine and the giant rock. This house is top notch, all the same appliances we have at home, just amazing everything. Stay here, go for a hike in the morning right from your backyard. Relax at night with outdoor heaters and hot tub.. can’t wait to come back.

My husband and I came here to get away on a mini moon after our wedding and it was just what we expected and more! The house was beautiful and clean, there were games to play and plenty of places to lounge. I wish we could have stayed longer!

This is a great spot. Beautiful house, with even more beautiful views. The stars are incredible, we even saw a few shooting stars. The kitchen was extraordinarily well stocked with cooking utensils and equipment. This was also one of the cleanest Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed in. Very comfortable.

Had a great stay with friends at this home. The interior finishes were modern and the place was very clean. Nice layout with large showers and scenic window views from all angles. Great location with a perfect view of the stars at night, and far enough off the beaten path that you feel isolated. Very quiet at night.

Gorgeous spot, cannot recommend this place enough. The house is stocked with all the little luxuries and good quality appliances you could only dream of. It really made us stay home and cook rather than eat out. The canyon is super private we felt like we had it all to ourselves. The outdoor space has so much to offer, we never really wanted to leave to explore any place else. We have a dog and he loved it! They offered extra blanket for dog, poop bags and lint roller, didn't give us any crazy restrictions (which many places do in our experience). This was a massive bonus for us, especially with such high standard of furnishings throughout the house, to feel comfortable with our dog. We came in the off season so the prices were extremely reasonable for what we were getting, almost a steal! 10 out of 10 recommend this place to anyone looking for a secluded luxurious getaway. Such a peaceful spot surrounded by stunning boulders and Joshua trees. Desert vacation at it's best.

Hi-Desert Fade is a truly exceptional Airbnb! The location is fantastic! The remote location, surrounded by mountains of boulders is truly magical! The modern house had every amenity we could want. The floor-to-ceiling windows let the unbelievable view surround us! Beds were so comfortable! The placement of the two bedrooms at either end of the house was perfect! Beautiful bathrooms, superbly furnished kitchen! Every thing was top-of-the-line! The outside amenities were fantastic as well! We grilled out every night, and ate as the moon rose over the desert - just magical! The "cowboy tub" was perfect for taking a dip after hikes at Joshua Tree NP. We loved making s'mores around the outdoor fire circle! Having stayed in Airbnbs around the world, I would say this is one of the very best!! Highly recommend if you want to disconnect, relax, and enjoy the desert!

The design of the house was just stunning (the kitchen was one of my favorite parts)!! Waking up to the views outside and falling asleep to the stars was something we took full advantage of during our stay, the absolute best. We AirBnB a lot and this was one of our favorite stays! The location is absolutely beautiful, secluded and private. The house is perfect - well made with high end appliances and finishes. This home is as beautiful and luxurious as it appears in the photos. What the photos won't tell you is how unbelievably thoroughly the upscale kitchen is stocked. You could easily bake or cook anything your heart desired, only bringing the ingredients. It's a gorgeous, quiet setting, but as other have mentioned, it's very remote with not a lot of access to the outside world. We found it refreshing to be disconnected form work and responsibilities but sometimes couldn't even get calls or texts to go through. Check in and out were a breeze. We had one issue, sent an email, and the hosts immediately sent someone to take care of it and all was remedied. If you're looking to unplug and get off the grid while living in the lap of luxury, this is your spot.

I had one of the best birthday weekends here, at first I felt the price was a bit high but the experience was so unique and incredible. While the house itself was very stylish and modern, extremely clean, and well equipped - it’s the location that was mind blowing. We had first planned to go on a hike on nearby trails but we never even had to leave the property to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We took a stroll right and climbed a few rocks and were able to see the vast landscape right from our backyard. I’ve never seen so many stars in my life, never knew there were so many shooting stars every night. I must have seen 10 in just the two nights we stayed. Laying in the jacuzzi taking in the night sky was such a special moment. We did plenty of cooking and the kitchen is so well stocked with Wolf appliances and cookware. And the beds were so comfortable!! Can’t forget about the 4 hammocks and the bocce ball set up either. A perfect weekend on such an incredible property.

A lovely house to stay in! Aside from the fantastic location (if you like privacy and nature), a beautiful space with everything tip top from appliances to furniture, beds & wonderful bathrooms. An unusual experience for a rental. In case you intend to use both bedrooms there’s no need to fight for the better one because they are identical:) We loved our stay here, and think you will as well.
